The Floral Crown is an elegant planter that will dress up any garden setting.  It consists of a handsome urn planter styled in the classical tradition and two wire hoops.  The hoops are installed at right angles to each other forming a crown for the vining Blackeyed Susan to climb over.  Purple and white Alyssum form a low-growing base.  The color contrast is sensational.  As always, a little extra care will insure you have maximum results from your Instant Flower Garden® product.

Varieties - White and Purple Alyssum (Lobularia maritima) and Blackeyed Susan Vine (Thunbergia alata).

General Installation and Watering - Fill the container with potting soil to within 1" of the top.  Place one of the seeded mats over the soil and water liberally.  If necessary, cut the mat with ordinary scissors to fit the surface.  Install the first hoop by pressing it solidly into the soil.  Repeat the process placing the second hoop at right angles to the first one.  See Garden Basics for detailed information about Soil Preparation for Containers, How to Store Unused Mats for Next Season, and other helpful tips.

What I Can Expect - The Instant Flower Garden® Floral Crown plants will germinate in 1 to 3 weeks depending upon conditions and soil temperature.  Patience is necessary in this phase.  Cool evenings and overcast days can delay germination.  Then, after the second set of leaves unfold, some thinning may be necessary to avoid crowding and allow for stronger mature plants.  Expect the Floral Crown flowers to grow to a height of 4 - 6 inches with the vine meandering over 6 feet.
