The Tortoise Planter is enchanting peaking out of your garden or atop a patio table. It comes with enough growing material to produce its vibrant impatiens display for two full seasons. As always, a little extra care will insure you have maximum results from your Instant Flower Garden® product.
Varieties - Two colors of Impatiens Baby Series (Impatiens walleriana).
General Installation and Watering - Fill the container with potting soil to within 1/2" of the top. Place one of the seeded mats over the soil and water liberally. Save the other mat for use next year. See Garden Basics for detailed information about Soil Preparation for Containers, How to Store Unused Mats for Next Season, and other helpful tips.
Special Considerations - Group the Tortoise Planter with a collection of other Instant Flower Garden® critters such as the Bunny Planter, My Garden Frog, My Ladybug Planter, and the precocious Piggy Planter.
Where to Plant - Dappled sun to partial shade.
What I Can Expect - The Instant Flower Garden® Tortoise Planter plants will germinate in 1 to 2 weeks depending upon conditions and soil temperature. Patience is necessary in this phase. Cool evenings and overcast days can delay germination. Then, after the second set of leaves unfold, some thinning may be necessary to avoid crowding and allow for stronger mature plants. Expect the Tortoise Planter flowers to grow to a height of 2 - 6 inches and continue their display throughtout the season.
