Piggy Planter

The Piggy Planter is simply irresistible.  Let it peak out of your garden or put penache on your patio.  It comes with two seasons of growing material that is well suited to partially shady conditions.  As always, a little extra care will insure you have maximum results from your Instant Flower Garden® product.

Varieties - Dianthus Pink (Dianthus barbatus) and Impatiens (Impatiens walleriana).

General Installation and Watering - Fill the container with potting soil to within 1/2" of the top.  Place one of the seeded mats over the soil and water liberally.  Save the other mat for use next year.  See Garden Basics for detailed information about Soil Preparation for Containers, How to Store Unused Mats for Next Season, and other helpful tips.

Special Considerations - Group the Piggy Planter with a collection of other Instant Flower Garden® critters such as the Bunny Planter, Tortoise Planter,  My Garden Frog, and My Ladybug Planter.

Where to Plant - Dappled sun to partial shade.

What I Can Expect - The Instant Flower Garden® Piggy Planter plants will germinate in 1 to 2 weeks depending upon conditions and soil temperature.  Patience is necessary in this phase.  Cool evenings and overcast days can delay germination.  Then, after the second set of leaves unfold, some thinning may be necessary to avoid crowding and allow for stronger mature plants.  Expect the Piggy Planter flowers to grow to a height of 8 to 10 inches and continue their display throughtout the season.

Be sure to visit Garden Basics for more helpful tips and techniques.

In order to achieve optimal growing conditions, it is best to plant this product after the last frost of Spring 2008.
