The Shade Mix Garden is designed to bring color and interest to a shady area of your landscape.  It is the perfect way to brighten an otherwise drab expanse under a tree or along a morth facing fence or wall.  The four plant types included in this 9 foot roll provide a mix of brilliant folliage and eye-catching flowers.  A variety of heights ranging from 4" to 48" further distinquish is this garden.   As always, a little extra care will insure you have maximum results from your Instant Flower Garden® product. 

Varieties - Chinese Forget-me-not (Cynoglossum amabile), Coleus (Solenostemon scutellarioides), Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), and Johnny Jump Up (Viola cornuta).

General Installation and Watering - Simply roll out the seeded mat on prepared loosened soil and water liberally.  See Garden Basics for more detailed instructions, soil preparation essentials, and other helpful tips.

Special Considerations - The garden roll can be cut into any shapes to suit your creative needs.  When planting under a tree, be sure to provide plenty of water throughout the growing season so both the tree and your new garden will thrive.  All Instant Flower Garden® products contain NutraGro® nutrient which will provide all the required nutrients during early stages of the growing process.  Depending on the richness of your soil, and particularly when planted under trees, additional nutrients may prove beneficial on the monthly basis throughout the growing season to obtain maximum effect.  Products such as Peters Professsional® or Miracle-Gro® are well suited for this application.

What I Can Expect - The Instant Flower Garden® Shade Mix Garden plants will germinate in 1 to 3 weeks depending upon conditions and soil temperature.  Patience is necessary in this phase.  Cool evenings and overcast days can delay germination.  Then, after the second set of leaves unfold, some thinning may be necessary to avoid crowding and allow for stronger mature plants.  Expect the Shade Mix Garden flowers to grow to a height of 4 to 48 inches and provide color throughout the season.
